Transit Terminal Mural – A Proposal

Connection and Innovation

Mississauga is a young and dynamic urban centre, known for its rapid growth and diverse, vibrant community. Emerging in recent decades as one of Canada’s major cities, it combines modern architecture, thriving business districts, and cultural vitality. With a skyline that reflects its ambition and neighbourhoods that celebrate global connections, Mississauga embodies the energy of a new urban era.

Proposed mural for Location 1: Terminal Wall approximately 7.5m wide x 4.5m high

My proposal celebrates Mississauga’s vibrant spirit, combining iconic local architecture with abstract forms that reflect the city’s energy. The geometry echoes the graphics of the city’s brand and logo and is in line with the city’s branding philosophy: “We are a young City and are on the cusp of something big, of finding our voice, our identity. The open spaces in the design embody the spirit and possibility of a young city that continues to build and shape its story and future.” (mississaugabrand.ca)

Proposed mural for Location 2: Information Booth approximately 3.7m wide x 1.9m high

The inclusion of two circular elements, the twelve-hour clock face and the 360-degree compass rose, refer to the essential aspects of transit: geography and time, navigation and schedules. Together, these elements reflect Mississauga’s identity as a city in motion, shaped by connection, possibility, and growth.  The murals will be an inspiring backdrop for the city’s busy commuters.

The tools used in the design of these murals are Sketchup, a 3D design software, as well as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. No AI has been used in these images.
